Enterprise Task 4 - Who Else is Out There? How Good Are They?

The Designers Republic


A design studio that has produced some of my favourite graphic design. They were a company that was based in Sheffield up until early 2009 when the studio was disbanded. The website still offers contact information and shows a series of images on a show reel, that, for my liking moves too fast.
I would have liked to have seen some more in depth work on various projects that they have undertaken as I know that they have completed some massive international projects for coke and other various companies.
What there is on the website has been designed to look very slick and professional, which is just what I would expect from a company with such calibre.

Music


A design agency based in Manchester. The website at first glance is something that I would expect to see from an established company, however the home screen is fairly hard to navigate and it took me a while to find the link to there completed projects and contact information as it was very small and hidden away in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
They have a lot of excellent work that is available for viewing and when the link has been found it is fairly easy to navigate. Sometimes the list of work is also hard to read because an image may sometimes be laying behind it.

Creative Spark

Creative Spark are a company based in Manchester specialising in graphic and web based design. Their website is very easy to navigate with every aspect of the site linked to each other. They also have a notice on their home screen that says they are looking for designers. This is a very friendly touch and makes the user or designer feel comfortable on the site. They also seem to be very driven by their clients which which makes them sound like genuine caring people.


The websites that I have looked at vary quite a lot in terms of how they want to display information and how they want to be viewed On one hand there are websites that are very simple in design but very easy to navigate, with all the information available at a touch of a button.
The other hand shows websites that want to show of their design style immediately. This can work in grabbing the viewers eye but they my find that people will get frustrated when they find it difficult to access work or even the contact information to obtain their service.
I think that getting the balance in these situations is impeccable as it means either getting people business or losing it.
